Post-Op Instructions for after Extraction(s)/Surgery
In brief: It is normal to experience an increase in pain and swelling for two-three days after surgery. Beginning on the fourth or fifth day, things should start to improve. Bleeding is usually controlled within the first eight hours after surgery.
As a general rule, you should apply the same criteria for activities you would use if you had a cold. That is, if you feel bad, stay home and rest; if you feel “ok,” then it is probably “ok” to resume normal activities, but keep in mind that you just had surgery.
It is normal for swelling to appear and become worse during the first three days following surgery. However, if you experience an increase in swelling or discomfort after day 7, follow up is warranted.
